Joshua Zirkzee has explained his ‘natural’ connection with one Manchester United teammate that is clear to see.

Joshua Zirkzee scored twice for Manchester United in his first start under Ruben Amorim in a 4-0 victory over Everton on the weekend.

The Dutch striker would have been delighted to end a long goalscoring drought, having not found the net since his debut for the club against Fulham in mid-August.

He failed to make a significant impact in Erik ten Hag’s final months left at the club, often looking uncomfortable in the way he was being asked to play.

Against the Toffees, he looked much better having Marcus Rashford running beyond him and having the licence to drop slightly deeper to link up with his teammates.

Zirkzee explains natural Amad connection

One of those teammates was Amad Diallo, who assisted Zirkzee’s second goal and had a role in the build-up to his first by winning the ball back in a dangerous area.

Amad was not only excellent in the final third, but also in the kind of link up play that Zirkzee loves to do.

Asked about his connection with the 22-year-old on the ball, the Dutch striker explained that he comes naturally as Amad is ‘very easy’ to play with.

“Just natural, I think, but same with all the other guys,” Zirkzee responded to journalists.

“It takes some time to have connections in a team when you’re new. With Amad, it’s very easy to play but same with all the other players in the team.

“I wish I could explain to you. It’s easy. He always gives you an option. Just comes natural. I wish I could explain!”

Amad’s link-up ability is clear to see

It is no surprise that someone like Zirkzee – who wants to link up and play with those behind him – enjoys playing with Amad.

The Ivorian’s playstyle makes him a dream to play with for many different types of players, but none more-so than the technically proficient stars.

That is why we have already seen the 22-year-old build a quick connection with Noussair Mazraoui, who has also been praised for his close control and link up play.

Amorim has suggested that there needs to be more players like this in the squad and fans will agree. It’s obvious to see the benefits these type of players bring to the table.
