Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has emerged as a target for Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window.

Pickford, 29, is considered an option at Old Trafford and the club are said to be moving for the England international no matter what David de Gea’s future entails.

The United goalkeeper currently has less than a month left on his current deal at the club but various reports have said that he’s signed an extended deal and it’s left for the club to sign it off before confirmation.

However, reports from talkSPORT say that United will look to sign Pickford whether De Gea extends his deal or not. Erik ten Hag wants a high calibre goalkeeper signed this summer to either rival the Spaniard or replace him if he does not extend his stay at the club.

Many believe that United should be looking to upgrade in the goalkeeper department after a campaign where De Gea failed to really adjust his style to Ten Hag’s playing philosophy – perhaps the Champions League final, where Manchester City equalled United’s iconic treble achievement, proved that assertion correct.

Pickford has just come from a relegation battle with The Toffies in which they ensured their Premier League survival on the final day.

The aforementioned report added that the goalkeeper, who has been capped 52 times for his country, is at the top of the list for United and that Everton could sell him at around a £30 million price tag.

The Reds are also reportedly interested in Porto shot-stopper Diogo Costa, who – at just 23 years of age – is one of the most highly rated goalkeepers in Europe.
