John McGinn explains key reason why Marcus Rashford is “at his best” for Aston Villa
Marcus Rashford moved to Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Manchester United decided to send Marcus Rashford out on loan after it became clear he would not be part of Ruben Amorim’s plans.
Aston Villa decided to take the forward on loan for the rest of the season and are reportedly paying the majority of his wages.
Since arrival at Villa Park, the 27-year-old has impressed with his performances and managed to get four assists in nine appearances.
Only four of those games have been starts but it appears that the United academy graduate has turned a positive corner so far on his loan spell, showcased by his return to the England squad.
McGinn explains why Rashford is thriving
Villa captain John McGinn has been speaking about Rashford’s time at the club so far and explained that he is getting “loan and support” at his new club.
The Scottish international also states that his new teammate is at his best with a smile on his face, after the difficulties he experienced at Old Trafford.
“Both Marcus [Rashford] and Marco [Asensio] showed glimpses which have proved they are at the highest level. They have maybe lost their way for certain reasons but what they’ll get from us is love and support and team-mates who will graft for them.
“We want them to be happy again. And every day that you see them, they have a smile on their face. That’s when you know footballers are happy and at their best.
“In that game against Club Brugge, Marcus played his best game in that second half. He was a constant threat. If we can get those two firing, they’re a pair that every club in the country would take.”
United set for greater financial flexibility through Rashford sale
It has been reported that Villa have a £40 million option to buy Rashford as part of his loan agreement and that cash would help United financially.

Rashford’s sale would be considered pure profit for the club on the balance sheets. It is no secret that the finances are not ideal at Old Trafford.
Reports have suggested that the departures of the 27-year-old and Antony are going to give the United chiefs “greater financial flexibility” in the upcoming summer transfer market.
