Jobe Bellingham makes £20m Manchester United transfer decision amid 2025 interest
Jobe Bellingham has made his decision on signing for Manchester United in 2025 amid interest from Rúben Amorim’s club.
Manchester United are looking for midfield reinforcements this summer as Rúben Amorim looks to build on his squad in 2025.
Although those such as Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes have excelled at points under the Portuguese head coach, both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are expected to leave this summer.
UtdDistrict revealed in November 2024 that Amorim sees upgrading his midfield options as his priority in the 2025 transfer windows. However, he is also keen to recruit new defenders and a new striker amid goal-scoring and defensive problems.
So far, the Portuguese coach has won four of his opening 12 fixtures, losing six and drawing the other two, although the recent 2-2 stalemate with Liverpool has shown that his side will improve with time on the training pitch.
United are interested in Sunderland’s Bellingham
As revealed by UtdDistrict in December, United are likely to act on their interest in Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham in 2025.
United have been keeping tabs on the 19-year-old during his spell with the Black Cats, and he has greatly impressed the club’s recruitment staff.
The all-action midfielder has made 23 appearances for Sunderland this season, all in the Championship, providing four goals and three assists as they fight for Premier League promotion, sitting 4th in the league table and just three points off Leeds United in top spot.
Bellingham has been touted as a potentially brilliant option for Amorim in one of his two attacking midfield roles, which are currently marshalled by Fernandes and Amad.
Bellingham makes United transfer decision
Previous reports have placed Bellingham’s price tag at around £20 million, with his current contract not expiring until June 2028.
However, according to The Sun, Bellingham is set to snub United’s interest in the January transfer window, with Sunderland reluctant to depart with one of their best players despite interest from United, Arsenal, and Crystal Palace.
Further, the report details that United may not have a shot at the player in the summer either, as he may choose to follow the path forged by his older brother Jude Bellingham and pick to play abroad instead.
It has been reported elsewhere that Borussia Dortmund are also tracking the youngster and may have an advantage in negotiations as his older brother Jude played for the German side between 2020 and 2023 before moving to Real Madrid for a fee close to £100 million.
