Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Ayden Heaven on a four-year contract until the summer of 2029.

Ayden Heaven has become the first signing of the Ruben Amorim era after deciding to reject a contract offer from Arsenal to join Manchester United.

The Reds have been looking to make some smart signings this month, with limited funds impacting their ability to splash the cash.

Patrick Dorgu is travelling to the country to join from Lecce as a £25 million signing, but it is Heaven who has put pen to paper first.

The 18-year-old defender is an exciting prospect and has been in and around Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad this season. He reportedly cost just £1.5 million.

Wilcox confirms Heaven reports

It was recently reported that Heaven would not be an Academy signing and instead will immediately be joining Amorim’s first-team squad.

Lisandro Martínez is the starting left-sided centre-back but the new signing is claimed to provide competition to the World Cup winner.

Those reports have since been confirmed by Jason Wilcox, who spoke about the deal after attending Heaven’s signing at Carrington.

“We are delighted that Ayden has joined Manchester United,” Wilcox said. “He is already an extremely talented defender who is ready to join our first-team squad in order to maximise his development.

“This club has a phenomenal track record of supporting young players and we believe that Ayden is in the perfect place to reach his excellent potential.”

When will Heaven make United debut?

It remains to be seen whether Heaven will be available for selection to face Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

United currently have Jonny Evans out of action but Victor Lindelöf has recently returned to training with the squad.

Heaven is more likely to be in the squad to face Leicester City in the FA Cup next Friday, with the Reds hosting Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side. Dorgu could also be set to make his debut against The Foxes.

United fans are eager to see what these new signings are about and they will get to see them on the pitch very soon.
