Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund star Jamie Gittens in the January transfer window.

Ruben Amorim has faced challenges during his Manchester United tenure so far and they have highlighted the need for reinforcements in the market.

Adding a left-wingback remains a top priority, but the club must raise funds through player sales to facilitate any new signings.

With there being a possibility that both Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho leave Old Trafford this month, United might also need bring in a signing for the left attacking midfield position.

United interested in Gittens

According to a new report, Manchester United have set their sights on Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens as a transfer target.

German transfer expert Florian Plettenberg recently shared updates on the 20-year-old winger’s future, with Bayern Munich also expressing interest.

The report describes Gittens as a “top target” for Bayern, though United are said to be “seriously interested” in securing his services.

Bayern have already held discussions with his representatives, and if Dortmund fails to qualify for the Champions League, Gittens’ departure could become unavoidable.

Gittens price tag revealed amid United interest

Gittens would not be an easy signing by any means, with Dortmund notoriously strong in their value for players in the market.

It was previously explained by Sky Germany that Dortmund would be looking for around £85 million for the winger, who eventually wants to play in the Premier League.

Currently, this is obviously out of budget for a United team that need to sell to buy this month and the only way they could afford a deal would be if Garnacho was sold for big money.

The Reds are reportedly asking for around £70 million for the Argentine but there are no teams willing to match that fee, as things stand.

That makes a move for Gittens very unlikely but United will want to remain in the loop with the Bundesliga forward’s situation in case anything changes.
