Jadon Sancho’s true stance on Enzo Maresca after bizarre Man Utd transfer report emerges
Jadon Sancho moved to Chelsea on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United last summer despite seemingly building bridges with Erik ten Hag.
Manchester United signed Jadon Sancho in the summer of 2021, but the winger struggled to find form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after his big-money move.
The winger then experienced inconsistent game time under Erik ten Hag and ended up falling out with the manager after releasing a social media post criticising the Dutchman.
Sancho was exiled from the United squad and joined Borussia Dortmund on a six-month loan in the 2024 January transfer window.
Although he returned to United training in the following summer, Sancho was loaned to Chelsea for the entirety of 2024/25 and the Stamford Bridge club have an obligation to buy the player for £25 million at the end of the season.
Sancho could stay at United despite Chelsea agreement
Despite this, a bizarre report emerged this week which suggested that Sancho could still end up returning to Old Trafford.
It was explained by MailSport that while many players usually agree personal terms with a loan club if there is a chance of a permanent stay, Sancho and Chelsea are yet to have looked at the numbers.
Sancho’s wages at United are in the region of £250,000-per-week, which is likely to be above anything Chelsea are willing to offer.
However, it was explained that The Blues would have to pay a significant penalty’ to pull out under the terms of their agreement with United.
Sancho started his career at Stamford Bridge well but has dropped his levels in recent months, leading to Chelsea fans doubting the club’s decision to sign him permanently in the summer.
Sancho’s true stance on Maresca and Chelsea
Despite those rumours, there is no questioning that Sancho is enjoying his time at Chelsea and particularly working under Enzo Maresca, who he knew from his time in the Academy at Manchester City.
In fact, the winger has claimed that he is “really delighted” to play for United’s Premier League rivals, which may suggest he will lower his demands to make a permanent move possible.
Sancho recently praised the Italian manager after a 1-0 win over Leicester City. “We believe in the manager,” he told club media.

“He tells us what to do next and we just adapt. He makes us feel at home and it’s not easy for players to say that!
“We’ve grown into one big family and I’m really delighted that I’m here, playing football here. The lads are very good and every day is a fun day.”
