Jadon Sancho’s Aston Villa loan details revealed as Manchester United strike ‘incredible’ deal

Manchester United have finally struck a deal that sees Jadon Sancho leave the club on loan to Aston Villa for the season.

Manchester United have spent nearly two years trying to offload Jadon Sancho, but despite numerous offers for the former Manchester City academy graduate, no permanent deal has materialised.

Last season he was loaned to Chelsea, though Enzo Maresca’s side opted to pay £5 million to send him back rather than meet the £25 million fee required to keep him.

United have continued to hold out for that £25 million valuation and looked close to striking a deal with AS Roma earlier in the window, only for Sancho to turn down the move.

Now, with just hours remaining before the English transfer window shuts, Rúben Amorim’s club have reached an agreement for the winger to spend the season on loan at Aston Villa.

Sancho’s Villa loan details revealed

Unfortunately for United, they will not secure the £20-25 million they had hoped for with Sancho this summer, but his move to Villa on deadline day does mean they leave the window with something.

Sancho is on a wage package of over £200,000 a week at United, meaning that in any loan deal, Villa would want most, if not all, of his salary covered.

According to Sky Sports, this is precisely what United are getting. It is reported that Villa will pay around 80% of Sancho’s wages until the end of June, and will also pay a loan fee for his services.

Further to that, The Guardian’s Jamie Jackson has added that, if bonuses are achieved, Villa could end up covering the 25-year-old’s entire salary.

Incredible deal for United considering the circumstances

It will be very disappointing to see that Sancho has once again headed out on loan instead of a permanent transfer, with United no doubt having to make yet another decision on the player once he returns.

However, considering the circumstances of just a few hours remaining until the window shut, securing a loan fee and most, if not all, of Sancho’s wages being covered is an incredibly good deal for the Reds.

There is the added headache of United needing to decide whether to trigger the extension in Sancho’s contract, given that his current deal is set to expire in 2026 as soon as his loan at Villa comes to a close.

It has been widely detailed that Sancho’s move to Villa does not contain any option or obligation to buy him next summer, meaning that, as it stands, once the Villa move ends, Sancho will be a free agent.

However, with United having the option to extend Sancho’s contract by a further season, should he perform well at Villa, the club could choose to trigger this extension and attempt to secure a transfer fee for the player next summer.
