Jadon Sancho has made a final decision regarding a potential move to Beşiktaş, following the club’s fans’ pleas for him to join, as evidenced by their comments on Instagram.
Manchester United have brought in four new faces this summer, with Rúben Amorim focused on reinforcing the spine of his Old Trafford squad.
The window began at pace, with Matheus Cunha’s signing announced on the opening day and completed two weeks later. Bryan Mbeumo signalled his desire to join in early June, but protracted talks with Brentford meant the move was finalised six weeks on.
During that period, United also secured 18-year-old left-back Diego Leon, whose strong showings at Carrington have already pushed him towards the first-team picture.
The headline deal came with the arrival of Benjamin Šeško from RB Leipzig, taking the club’s summer spend to around £214 million. The rebuild is ongoing, with a midfielder and a goalkeeper still being targeted, although sales are now needed.
Sancho responds to Beşiktaş Instagram comments
Jadon Sancho is a name no longer fond at United, with the winger falling out with former manager Erik ten Hag before completing loan moves to Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea over the last 18 months.
However, with United wanting to offload the winger permanently in the next few weeks, the Englishman has been linked with Turkish club Beşiktaş. The club’s fans have since flooded the player’s Instagram comments, begging him to join, generating over 5.4 million comments to date.
However, German football journalist Patrick Berger has clarified that, despite the club inquiring about Sancho and sounding out a potential transfer amid their fan frenzy, he has opted against a move to the Turkish Super Lig at this stage of the window.
Furthermore, it’s reported that Juventus and Dortmund remain in the mix, although the latter is said to have cooled its talks.
United are full throttle on a midfielder
As per transfer expert David Ornstein, United are going all out on signing a new midfielder in the coming days, with £100 million Carlos Baleba their top choice.
“Then the number six is absolutely essential in their mind. And at the top of that list is Carlos Baleba,” Ornstein said on The Sports Agents earlier this week.
“Ruben Amorim is said to be a big fan. Manchester United are exploring that situation, and conversations have been held with Brighton via intermediaries working on their behalf to try and ascertain a number, a price.
“That hasn’t happened so far at the time of recording. Brighton have made clear that they don’t intend to sell him that they would prefer to keep him for at least another year. I don’t know of them being under pressure to do so.”
Any potential funds arising from the sale of Sancho, as well as those of Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Højlund, and Antony, will likely be put into a fund to tempt Brighton into an early sale.
