Manchester United appear to be progressing with another potential sale this summer as Jadon Sancho prepares to take a drastic step to secure a dream move.
Jadon Sancho is one of several Manchester United players expected to depart the club this summer, with Ruben Amorim opting not to include him in his future plans.
United’s pre-season is well underway, with three games under their belt, including a fantastic 4-1 win over Bournemouth this week.
But Sancho – alongside Tyrell Malacia, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho – have not been included in the tour squad as the club encourage them to look for new clubs. Marcus Rashford was also in that camp and secured a loan move to Barcelona.
Sancho hasn’t played for United since the summer of 2024, when he was loaned to Chelsea following a falling-out with former boss Erik ten Hag. Although the deal included a £25 million obligation to buy, Chelsea instead paid £5 million to cancel the agreement.
Juventus have been the most interested party in the player this summer but another option has recently entered the picture and Sancho is prepared to make a significant move.
Sancho prepared to take drastic step to secure dream transfer
It has been reported in recent days that Borussia Dortmund are keeping an eye on the situation of Sancho, who’s price has been reduced to under £20 million.
United originally signed Sancho from the German club in the summer of 2021 and he spent six months back on loan there in 2024.
Now, a report from Bild claims that Sancho is willing to take a drastic step and accept a significant pay-cut to secure a move back to Dortmund.
Sancho refused a large wage cut at Chelsea but it is stated that he has told Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, that he’s prepared to give up half of his salary.
The 25-year-old has often labelled the Bundesliga team as his home and it would likely be a dream for him to return to Germany to play in yellow and black again.
United could finally make progress on sales soon
Should these developments occur, United would be delighted even though the overall price tag is not going to be too large.
After two loan spells previously, United and Sancho both need to close this chapter permanently and it seems like that is going to happen.
With movements also occurring with Garnacho’s potential exit, United could finally start making some sales in the coming weeks.
It was always going to be the most difficult part of the window but these players need new clubs too, as they don’t want to be stuck training on their own until September.
Sancho’s supposed decision to finally lower his wage demands seems to support that too.
