Jadon Sancho is currently on loan at Chelsea from Manchester United but is set to sign on a permanent deal next summer.

Manchester United decided to let Jadon Sancho go to Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer window.

Sancho had previously been exiled from the first-team squad at Old Trafford due to an argument with Erik ten Hag. He spent the second half of 2023/24 on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

United signed the winger from the Bundesliga club for over £70 million in 2021 but he failed to have any significant impact at the club.

The 24-year-old is now at Chelsea and excelling under Enzo Maresca, with the Blues currently sitting second in the Premier League table.

Sancho fee increasing after Chelsea performances

With the London-based side flying in the league this season, it means that they will be paying more to United for Sancho in the summer.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Blues will be paying an additional £5 million for the player, rather than the initial £20 million fee, due to their ‘excellent performances’ this season.

“One crucial detail is the financial one: Chelsea’s excellent performances in the Premier League mean that the final fee they will spend on Jadon Sancho in the summer of 2025 will be £25m (plus the salary coverage for this season), and not the initial £20m based on their Premier League performances,” the journalist revealed to GiveMeSport.

Sancho currently has two goals and five assists in 12 appearances for Chelsea this season.

Romano reveals Chelsea’s stance on Sancho price increase

Romano explained that this extra cash will be beneficial for United’s financial situation ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer window.

However, there is no trouble from Chelsea’s point of view for paying the extra cash for Sancho, with Romano claiming that they are ‘more than happy’ with the value as he is considered an important player for Maresca.

“Manchester United will be waiting for that money for Financial Fair Play and re-investing is going to be one of the key missions of the summer for the Red Devils,” he continued.

“But Chelsea are understood to be ‘more than happy’ to pay that money for Sancho, as he is considered an important player for the present and also the future of their project at the club.

“Formal steps will follow in 2025, but the plan and the vision is already clear between Jadon Sancho, Chelsea and his former club, Manchester United.”
