Jadon Sancho to Juventus has “important” problem that Manchester United must solve, says Fabrizio Romano
Fabrizio Romano has explained that there is an important issue that must be solved concerning Jadon Sancho’s proposed move to Juventus Manchester United.
Jadon Sancho, 24, was absent from Manchester United for the second half of last season following a disagreement with manager Erik ten Hag, who did not include him for a match against Arsenal.
Sancho hasn’t played for United in the Premier League since the end of August last year, with Ten Hag citing poor training performances as the reason. Sancho publicly contested these accusations, which resulted in his temporary exclusion from the team and a six-month loan to Borussia Dortmund.

After a thorough discussion with Ten Hag during the pre-season, Sancho returned to United’s first-team training. Despite this, he has recently been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
Sancho has not been selected for United’s initial two Premier League games against Fulham and Brighton, and reports on Wednesday afternoon claimed that United and Juventus had agreed on a loan with an obligation to buy.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed the latest on the situation, saying Juventus’ bid is a loan with an option to buy rather than an obligation and that there is a further issue that still needs to be overcome.
“After selling Federico Chiesa to Liverpool, Juventus improved their bid for Jadon Sancho,” Romano explained on his YouTube channel.
“Juventus presented a new proposal to Manchester United. It’s a loan with a buy-clause. Manchester United are asking for an obligation [to buy]. Juventus, in this moment, are offering an option to buy.”
However, Romano also explained that wages may still be an “important” problem that have to be solved. Sancho currently earns around £300k a week at Old Trafford, and should the two sides agree to an option to buy, the salary coverage must be agreed upon.
“[What is] also important [is] the salary. Because, when you do a loan with a buy-clause, the salary coverage has to be discussed. And Jadon Sancho is on a big salary.
“So what’s the point? Juventus and Manchester United are negotiating. For Jadon Sancho, it’s about the salary. It’s about the buy-clause. Mandatory, not mandatory. All this kind of stuff.
“While I’m recording this video, negotiations are ongoing. So any moment, things can happen for Jadon Sancho with Juventus.”
The transfer window closes on Friday at 11 p.m., and two days later, United will face Liverpool at Old Trafford.
