Jadon Sancho to Juventus is now looking unlikely in a bid blow for Manchester United, considering the £40 million they hope to get for the player.

Jadon Sancho, 24, was away from Manchester United for the second half of last season due to a disagreement with manager Erik ten Hag, who did not select him for a match against Arsenal.

Sancho has not played for United in the Premier League since the end of August last year, with Ten Hag attributing this to subpar training performances. Sancho publicly denied these accusations, which led to his temporary removal from the squad and a six-month loan to Borussia Dortmund.

Following a detailed discussion with Ten Hag during the pre-season, Sancho was reintegrated into United’s first-team training sessions. Despite this, his future at Old Trafford remains in doubt, as he has recently been linked with a transfer away.

Sancho was excluded from the lineups for United’s first two Premier League games against Fulham and Brighton. On Wednesday afternoon, there were reports that United and Juventus had agreed on a loan with an obligation to buy.

However, it has now been claimed that the transfer is on “standby,” with two further transfers out of Turin blocking the move.

This is according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who claims that due to the failed sales of Filip Kostić and Arthur are blocking the move.

Further, Di Marzio explains that the deal’s costs are too high, although Juventus are still “working hard” to see if an agreement with United can be made—the English club want around £40 million for the winger.

“The Bianconeri club being quite realistic in having residual possibilities at the moment of closing the operation positively,” the transfer expert explained, translated from his native Italian.

“This is because the costs of the Sancho operation are considered too onerous. At the same time, Juventus would still be satisfied to close the market like this, after a great transfer campaign conducted in this summer session.”

This suggests that Sancho may move to Chelsea this summer, although several hurdles would need to be navigated for this to happen.

The London-based club is currently offering Raheem Sterling in a swap deal for Sancho, and United are thought to be discussing this internally. Sterling is aiming to sort out his contractual situation with his current club before making any decisions about his future.
