Jadon Sancho has come to the defence of former Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford amidst speculation he could leave Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford has added fuel to the fire following recent reports which stated Manchester United wanted to sell him.

The club’s no.10 suggested in a recent interview that he would like a ‘new challenge’ away from his boyhood club.

He has been left out of the last two United squads to face Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur but Ruben Amorim stresses that his absence is purely down to selection choices and not his bombshell interview.

Rashford’s departure from the club looks almost certain, whether that be in January or next summer.

Many fans have been frustrated with Rashford in recent years but abuse has also come his way. Henry Winter, who conducted the recent interview with the player, described some of the messages Rashford receives as ‘utterly despicable’.

A banner in United’s away end at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday evening read: “Excuses. Ta ra Marcus”.

The relationship between the player and fans is clearly deteriorating and it seems a matter of time until a departure happens.

Wright and Sancho defend Rashford on social media

Many are beginning to write off the 27-year-old’s career but Ian Wright has come to his defence in a post on social media.

“I got to Arsenal at 28, but you expect ME to write off someone with the ability Marcus has at 27!!!!” the former Arsenal striker wrote on Instagram.

“So many of you are desperate to see these young people fail so that you can say you were right! You would take 1% of the career Marcus has had!”

This comment was then shared onto ESPN’s social platforms and Jadon Sancho decided to respond on X with a speaking and 100 emoji, while tagging Ian Wright, showcasing his support of the pundit’s opinion.

Rashford wants resurgence like Sancho at Chelsea

Sancho went through an extremely similar situation during his own time at Old Trafford and was written off by supporters and the wider public.

Since his move to Chelsea, the 24-year-old has looked much more like the player United signed for big money from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.

He was labelled hopeless and one of the worst signings in United’s history, while Chelsea fans can’t seem to believe that they will only pay £25 million for him when his loan becomes permanent in the summer.

Rashford may be thinking that he could experience a similar resurgence if he decides to leave Old Trafford in the coming transfer windows.
