Jadon Sancho offers perfect solution to Chelsea’s unusual plan after submitting fresh “transfer request”

Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho has offered Chelsea a perfect solution to their new transfer idea after submitting an unexpected transfer request to his representatives.

In the final days of the 2024 summer transfer window, Jadon Sancho left Manchester United to join Chelsea on a season-long loan.

An agreement between the two clubs included a £25 million obligation for Chelsea to make the move permanent the following summer. However, later reports indicated the London side could opt out of the deal by paying a £5 million penalty.

Sancho had fallen out of favour under Erik ten Hag the previous season and was loaned to Borussia Dortmund. Although he was reintegrated into the United squad in July 2024, his future at the club remained uncertain.

Since making the switch to Stamford Bridge, Sancho has made 27 appearances, scoring twice and providing six assists—a return that has drawn criticism over his lack of consistent goal threat.

Sancho issues surprise transfer request

Amid speculation surrounding whether or not Sancho will return to United from Chelsea this summer, the winger has reportedly made a very unexpected decision.

According to German outlet Bild, the 25-year-old has “submitted a transfer request” to his entourage that they facilitate a move back to Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Sancho made his name at the Bundesliga club after signing for them from Manchester City in 2017, where he played 158 times for them over four seasons, scoring 53 goals and providing 64 assists before his £73 million move to Old Trafford in 2021.

He then returned to Dortmund for a second time last season on loan, and it seems as if the player wants to make a permanent switch back to the Signal Iduna Park this summer.

Sancho offers Chelsea perfect solution to their plan

Amid Sancho’s reported request to transfer out of England this summer, Chelsea may see this as a perfect solution to a plan they are said to be formulating surrounding the player.

According to reports from last week, the London-based club are still planning on signing the winger for £25 million this summer, but will then look to move him on immediately in a rather unusual move.

A claim from Chelsea-focused journalist Simon Phillips has suggested that Chelsea believe they can make an immediate profit on the winger by signing him from United for the pre-agreed fee and selling him for more in the same window.

The report states that clubs in both Germany and Spain are interested in the player, and with Sancho seemingly keen on a return to Dortmund, he is offering Chelsea the perfect solution to execute their plan to make profit on his departure this summer.

This also benefits United as they will finally be able to get Sancho off their books once and for all, as well as obtaining extra cash to fund Amorim’s incomings this summer.
