Premier League legend Alan Shearer has suggested that the latest setback at Manchester United will not impact Ruben Amorim’s side in their upcoming game against Everton.
With the November international break now over, Ruben Amorim has turned his attention to preparing Manchester United for Monday night’s encounter with Everton.
United currently hold seventh place in the Premier League, level with Tottenham in fifth, one point behind fourth-placed Sunderland, and two shy of Chelsea in third.
After a difficult start to the season, they’ve put together a five-match unbeaten run and have lost only once in their last seven, giving them valuable momentum in their push up the standings.
Everton sit 13th and have produced two wins, two losses, and a draw in their last five outings. Their 2–0 defeat to Fulham before the break hasn’t significantly dented the belief within David Moyes’ squad as they prepare for the trip to Old Trafford.
Shearer explains why United setback ‘won’t impact’ the team
Amorim could have Lisandro Martínez back in the team to face Everton but he will be without his only true no.9 option in Benjamin Šeško.
The Slovenian international is currently injured and could be out of action for up to a month, but Premier League legend Alan Shearer does not believe his absence will be too impactful.
“Benjamin Sesko’s injury won’t impact Man United too much. Ruben Amorim has already shown that if you’re not up to it then he won’t play you,” Shearer told Betfair.
“He’s already made enough big decisions not to be phased by what the outside noise is. I don’t suspect that bothers him at all. He’d love Sesko to be fit, come off the bench and have an impact but he won’t have that option.
“Given how well the likes of Cunha and Mbeumo have been since joining, it’s not as if Sesko’s injury is a disaster. Results are improving at Man United.”
United’s most likely forward line vs Everton
United do not really have a natural replacement for Šeško in the team but there are various workarounds Amorim will be considering.
Joshua Zirkzee is the only other senior striker in the squad and may be considered to play against Everton, although there are other options.
Mason Mount is the most likely player to come into the forward line, with Matheus Cunha then moving upfront. Kobbie Mainoo may also come into the team which would allow Bruno Fernandes to move further forward.
But it does seem like Mount is the most likely player to start against Everton as he is clearly one of Amorim’s favoured options.
