Antony registered yet another assist for Real Betis on Sunday evening but the Manchester United loanee was also sent off later in the game.

Manchester United decided to send Antony on loan to Real Betis towards the end of the January transfer window.

The Brazilian winger had struggled at Old Trafford ever since his big-money move from Ajax in the summer of 2022.

However, Antony has started life at Betis brilliantly, with five goal contributions in six games for the La Liga side.

The United loanee displayed desire and quality to win the ball for Betis and find Isco inside the box to assist the opener for Manuel Pellegrini’s side against Getafe on Sunday.

However, towards the end of the game, Antony was sent off for a late challenge on Juan Iglesias in the fourth minute of stoppage time at the end of the game.

Betis were still able to hold on to win 2-1 but Antony is now set to miss a clash against Real Madrid, with many claiming that the red card was harsh on the Brazilian.

Isco explains why he loves playing with Antony

Antony has picked up a brilliant relationship with Betis star Isco since his arrival in Spain and he praised the former Real Madrid man last week.

After he received an assist from the United loanee on the weekend, Isco explained why he finds it “very easy” to play alongside the 24-year-old.

“It’s very easy to play with Antony, he’s incredibly talented and always makes good decisions,” Isco told media after the game.

“Hopefully between now and the end of the season we’ll take the small step we need to get into Europe.”

The five-time Champions League winner also has his fingers crossed that Antony’s sending off can be reviewed and changed so he can play against Madrid next week.

“Let’s see if Antony’s expulsion can be reviewed because they say there was no contact,” he added.

Antony in contention for La Liga award

Antony’s impressive start to life in Spain has got him in contention for a potential award.

The United winger has been nominated for the La Liga Player of the Month for February last week and his assist against Getafe only strengthened his case.

So far, Antony has played four games in the Spanish league and registered two goals and two assists. He was named Man of the Match in two of those games.

The other players up for the award are Kylian Mbappe, Pedri, Oihan Sancet and Ante Budimir.
