Inter Milan’s plan to sign Rasmus Højlund revealed, it depends on key factor out of Manchester United’s control

Inter Milan’s plan has been revealed as they attempt to fund the signing of Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund this summer.

Manchester United’s summer rebuild is looking at completely replacing their front three, as they aim to put their attacking mishaps behind them.

After scoring a disappointing 44 goals in the Premier League last season, Ruben Amorim’s side are attempting to revamp their attack. They have already acquired the signature of Wolves’ Matheus Cunha for £62.5million.

Having failed to light up Old Trafford in his first two seasons, it looks as if Rasmus Højlund could be heading for the exit, with a return to Italy potentially on the cards for the Dane.

The 22-year-old has attracted multiple suitors out in Italy, but the main interest has come from Inter Milan. The Champions League finalists have got a keen eye on United’s underwhelming striker.

Inter’s plan for Hojlund transfer

According to the Gazzetta, via SempreInter, Inter will look to make a move for Højlund this summer, but only if they are able to find space within their squad to make the move viable.

As it stands, the Nerazzurri have five different senior striker options in their squad, and it has been reported that they will look to offload 32-year-old Mehdi Taremi to make way for Højlund’s arrival.

The Iranian forward only mustered three goals all season for Inter, and despite only joining the club last summer, they now feel like his story at the San Siro is over.

Also, the Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Inter will only move for Højlund if they are able to offload Taremi, but no active interest has been reported as of yet, which means United will be left waiting to see if the Italian side make the space for Højlund.

Who will replace Højlund?

With the Danish international seemingly heading for the exit, it still remains a mystery as to what United will do with their striker situation.

Amorim’s side have actively pursued a new striker since the beginning of the window, but none of their attempts have came to fruition so far, and they look no closer to actually signing a new number nine.

Joshua Zirkzee looks set to remain at the club, whilst youngster Chido Obi waits in the wings, but United this likely won’t be enough for United to enter the new season with.

Currently, rumours are circulating around Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, but it will be interesting to see who the Red Devils end up with at the end of the window.
