INEOS identify PSG recruit in bid to strengthen Manchester United structure
Ineos are set to continue their massive overhaul of Manchester United’s backroom staff by bringing in Paris Saint-Germain’s chief revenue officer Marc Armstrong.
Co-owned by their founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Ineos have set to implement a gigantic shift in the Red Devils backroom staff, since the group bought a 27.7% stake in the club back in December of last year.
Speaking in the months after he purchased his stake in Manchester United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe would state that Ineos needed “to populate all the key roles with people who are best in class, 10 out of 10s.”
This includes the manager position, of which it had been claimed that Ineos already had an ideal choice in mind to replace Erik ten Hag.
The group have worked fast, placing names such as Dan Ashworth, Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada into key roles within the club.
Now, it has been reported that United have identified their next target for improving their backroom staff, that being PSG’s chief financial officer Marc Armstrong.
The report, which comes from L’Equipe, states that Ineos plans to appoint Armstrong in a similar position to that he currently holds in Paris.
Joining PSG in 2018 first as the club’s chief partnerships officer, his current position has seen him placed in charge of generating revenue for the club.
Armstrong, who has been with PSG for six years, has an extensive career working in sports, this includes a ten-year stint with the FA between 1997 and 2007. He has also spent almost six years working with the NBA, as well as over two with the NFL.
The report of Ineos looking to appoint Armstrong in a similar position comes on the same day that the club reported a pre-tax loss of £131 million across 2023/2024.
This report came despite United generating a 2% increase in their revenue from the previous year.
