INEOS have already decided the manager who is “first in line” for the Manchester United job if they sack Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United were beaten 3-0 by Liverpool on Sunday afternoon at Old Trafford in a lacklustre performance from Erik ten Hag’s team.

Ten Hag’s tactics were questionable throughout the game, and all three goals came from the hosts’ build-up mistakes.

With one win and three defeats so far this term, things are not looking too dissimilar to last season. There already seems to be significant pressure for Ten Hag to turn things around quickly.

The INEOS leaders will have their own opinions, and while they backed the manager with an extended contract in the summer, they will not be afraid to pull the trigger if they feel it is needed.

Of course, that is highly unlikely to happen anytime soon since we are only a few games into the new season.

But if the manager is eventually sacked at some point this season, people are concerned about who will come in, with there being limited alternatives.

According to a report back in July from MailSport’s Mike Keegan, if Ten Hag ends up being sacked this season, the former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel would be the “first in line” to replace him.

It was further explained that Tuchel had impressed Sir Jim Ratcliffe during their summer talks when the future of Ten Hag at Old Trafford was uncertain.

Currently, Tuchel is without a job due to his desire to take a break from football. This suggests that if Ten Hag was let go at some point during the season, he would be able to come into the job immediately.

Some fans have also predicted that Ruud van Nistelrooy would be the option to become the manager at Old Trafford after he surprisingly took the role to become Ten Hag’s assistant.
