Manchester United legend Andy Cole has told fans to ignore the latest exit rumour surrounding the Old Trafford club.

United are reportedly willing to listen to offers for the majority of Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad, and that has led to an increase in exit rumours ahead of the summer transfer window.

It has been detailed that it would take a “major offer” for the club to listen consider selling captain Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese midfielder has once again been solid for United this season despite the struggles across the board. He has 14 goals and 14 assists so far this season.

However, recent comments in an interview with DAZN have sparked rumours about his future after Fernandes said that he would only consider his future once the season has ended and his Euro 2024 campaign concludes.

Despite the 29-year-old also stating that he believes both he and INEOS are on the same page regarding his future, many have taken the comments as a hint towards a potential exit.

Andy Cole has instead stated that he does not believe these sorts of interviews can make it easy to misconstrue someone’s words, particularly if it is a written interview.

Asked about the comments by BetFred, Cole responded: “We don’t know what’s going on a day-to-day basis. However, when it comes to interviews, especially if it’s written, then I’m not giving them the time of day.

“Words can be changed to make it look as if somebody’s looking to force a move when it’s completely different to that. When it’s the written press, I don’t take it on board whatsoever.”

Fernandes joined the Old Trafford club in January 2020 and has since made 230 appearances.
