Noam Emeran has thrust his name into the headlines after a fantastic display during Manchester United’s opening pre-season friendly.

Manchester United defeated Leeds 2-0 in their first pre-season friendly of the summer with a big help from young French winger Noam Emeran.

Emeran opened the scoring in cool fashion for Erik ten Hag with a lovely slotted finish in the second half, before setting up Joe Hugill for the side’s second of the day.

Having scored 5 goals in 15 appearances in PL2 last season, Emeran took his opportunity against Leeds with both hands.

“It’s always a proud moment for me to wear this shirt and play for this club in a big stadium like this,” Emeran told MUTV.

“Of course, I am happy and proud for me to score a goal, for my family as well. We just have to keep going – the first of many, if God wants.

“It was important for the team (to get a win) as well for the coach as it is our first game of the season. We wanted to play good, respect the tactics and the rules of the coach and get the win at the end.”

As well as scoring himself, he set up his fellow academy forward Joe Hugill, who scored United’s second and final goal of the afternoon.

“It was a good goal from him, I am happy for him as well to score,” Emeran said.

“We are here to take experience, so it is nice to play in a full stadium and to play in front of fans. It’s a good feeling to play in a stadium like this.

“I don’t have a personal target, I just want to play as many minutes as I can, take what I’m given, and we will see every game if God wants.”
