He was also tasked with dead-ball scenarios, where he took control of taking all free kicks and corners.

Speaking to MUTV, Mount has explained that the squad have worked hard leading up to that fixture and that he really enjoyed the role he had.

“We had a week of training, we worked hard, it’s good to put that into practice on the pitch,” he said.

“We’ve been working on some tactics although we’re mainly focusing on the physical in the first week. I have a good understanding of how the manager wants to work and how the different boys are playing. We’re using these games to reinforce that.”

“I really like the role today, being able to come down to touch the ball and build the game from a little deeper, but also having the freedom to project yourself and go into the box. like to do both.”

Speaking on Mount, Erik ten Hag was full of praise: “(Mount was) great. We expected that. He’s so talented. He will help our performance.”
