Andy Cole made 275 appearances for Manchester United and scored 121 goals as the club won 11 trophies during his seven-year spell at Old Trafford.

The 51-year-old was one of the best strikers to play for United after signing for The Reds in 1995 from Newcastle.

Cole has recently detailed how he would not have liked to play alongside Antony because of his lack of ability to go on the outside and cross the ball on his right foot.

The 22-year-old signed for the club from Ajax in the summer for a hefty price tag that immediately put pressure on his name. Despite showing promising moments and providing balance for Erik ten Hag’s side, it’s been a slightly underwhelming debut campaign for the Brazilian.

His wing play has come into question, with an inability to use his weaker foot to help manipulate defenders at the very least. Cole believes that this is holding the winger and his team back.

“If I was a striker in this Manchester United team and saw Antony was playing on the right wing, I’d be pulling my hair out because I know that I will never get a cross my way on his weak right foot,” the ex-United forward told King Casino Bonus.

“If I was making a run into the box, I would not expect anything because he always chops back onto his left foot. The game has changed now and what managers want from wingers is different.

“Antony has had a tough first season in the Premier League, he’s finding his feet but I don’t think he expected the Premier League to be as hard as it is. Now defenders who play against him know there is no element of surprise because he always wants to come back on his left foot.”

Antony was one of the few positives for United in their recent loss to Newcastle despite his early substitution. His seven goals for The Reds put him as the third-highest scorer this term.

Whilst there are arguments for and against the abilities of the Brazilian, the one undeniable fact is that he is not good enough with his right foot and that needs to change.
