“I wouldn’t go…” Roy Keane and Gary Neville disagree on Newcatle vs Man Utd prediction, Rúben Amorim can prove them wrong

Roy Keane and Gary Neville have disagreed on their predictions for Manchester United’s upcoming trip to face Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United are back in Premier League action on Sunday afternoon as they travel to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle United.

The Reds, who find themselves 13th in the table, are yet to score in their last two league matches but managed to find the net twice in a 2-2 Europa League draw with Lyon on Thursday night.

After showing signs of progress before the March international break, Rúben Amorim’s side have lost momentum, following up a defeat to Nottingham Forest with consecutive draws against Manchester City and Lyon.

Their next challenge comes against a Newcastle team firmly in the race for Champions League qualification. Eddie Howe’s men sit 5th in the table and will be aiming to strengthen their hold on a top-five spot.

Keane and Neville disagree on Newcastle vs United prediction

As always, ex-Reds defender Gary Neville and his co-hosts on The Overlap have predicted the weekend’s Premier League ties.

When it came to United and Newcastle’s clash, former United captain Roy Keane was very quick to submit a 3-1 win for Howe’s men against his old club.

However, Neville disagreed. Although the 50-year-old agreed that Newcastle are the likely victors, he warned Keane that United are more solid than he thinks and that going with such a strong Newcastle win is not the correct prediction.

“No, I would not go that strong either,” Neville, who was on the phone to former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher, stated when his fellow ex-defender questioned Keane’s prediction. “I think United are quite solid.”

Amorim can prove Keane and Neville wrong

While United will go into the St. James’ Park fixture as firm underdogs, Amorim has the perfect chance to prove Keane and Neville, as well as a lot of the footballing world, wrong on Sunday afternoon.

While United’s attack against Lyon looked unconvincing in the first half, this changed when Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount came onto the field and Bruno Fernandes dropped into a deeper role.

With these three players expected to start on Tyneside on Sunday afternoon, Amorim has the chance to play a much more cohesive front line against Newcastle and prove that his club can be a force to be reckoned with now that many of his most important players are returning from injury.

There is also the boost that Kobbie Mainoo has returned to action and can help bring fresh legs to both the midfield and front line, and with Amad also back in the middle of next month, United look like a side who may be able to start performing well as the season hits it’s climax.
