Manchester United target Matheus Cunha spoke in front of his Wolves teammates this week ahead of what seems to be his final appearance for the club.
With the summer window being crucial for Manchester United, they are already working on signings which can improve Ruben Amorim’s squad.
Matheus Cunha is one of the priority targets at Old Trafford, with the club desperate to sign players who can help solve their goalscoring issues from this season.
The Wolves star has been one of the most prolific scorers in the Premier League this season, with 15 goals and six assists in 32 appearances.
He remains open to joining United despite their lack of European football next season and reports have suggested that the Reds are preparing to activate his £62 million release clause as soon as the summer window opens.
What Cunha told Wolves teammates this week
Cunha has split opinion within the Wolves fanbase this term, partly because of his impending exit and off-field matters.
But his teammates have shown full appreciation of his talents, and how he has helped them this term. He was voted as the club’s Players’ Player of the Year this week.
On Wolves’ social media channels, they posted the video Cunha’s speech in front of the squad, where he thanked his teammates and said that he believes in them to take Wolves forward, which seems to be another hint at his departure.
“Such a pleasure. (It was) hard. But in the end we did the job,” the Brazilian international said. “We did what we needed to do and I think everyone showed their quality.
“We can do many more things, I believe in you guys, thank you very much.”
United are hoping to get a deal for the player over the line as soon as possible, with the transfer window opening next week while United are on their post-season tour in Asia.
United will likely move for more players with release clauses
It has also been revealed that Alejandro Garnacho has been told to find a new club this week. One thing appears clear – United want to do work quickly this summer.
Cunha having a release clause allows United to take advantage of the fact that they do not have to spend loads of time in club-to-club negotiations.

Liam Delap is another target who also has a release clause, and it would be no surprise if United continue to target players with those in their contracts. It makes life easier for a team who are known for being taken for a ride in those talks.
United have a busy summer in terms of their pre-season preparations, and getting some of their priority targets like Cunha into the club with plenty of time to spare is crucial ahead of next season.
