Matheus Cunha is having a standout season with Wolves and is a top target for Ruben Amorim at Manchester United in the summer.
Manchester United are interested in signing in-form forward Matheus Cunha this summer and a deal seems within touching distance now.
Fabrizio Romano has stated that the club are set for ‘important days’ for the deal, and are confident of reaching an agreement ‘very soon’.
United have had many problems in terms of goalscoring this season and Cunha would provide a much-needed boost, with 15 goals and six assists in the Premier League this term.
Cunha is expected to be the first signing of the summer for United but there have been some concerns shared about the Wolves star.
Cunha addresses United warning
Some people have warned United that the Brazilian’s attitude is a problem, with the striker having been suspended twice this season and had some social media issues.
The 25-year-old has responded to these claims, admitting that he sometimes shows emotion too much, but that it is because he loves to be on the pitch and help his team.
“I always say, when I’m in this shirt I’m always happy on the pitch to play for this team, to play with my teammates,” Cunha said on BBC Match of the Day on the weekend.
“Everyone knows that I think sometimes my emotion is too much because I really love to be here. But of course the most important is to help the team.”
Cunha shows shades of Bruno Fernandes mentality
As the Brazilian himself has pointed out, sometimes he can let his passion on a football pitch land him in trouble.
But from United’s point of view, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Ruben Amorim needs players who care, and from a fan’s perspective it’s a joy to see someone willing to give it all for your club.
A player who draws very similar parallels to Cunha is Bruno Fernandes, both men are the top scorers for their respective teams this season in the Premier League and both can often let their emotions get the better of them, with Fernandes being sent off three times this season.

Historically though, United have thrived having big characters in the dressing room, with Cunha on the verge of hopefully becoming the latest in a long list of such players.
