I noticed two things Ruben Amorim did after full-time vs Ipswich that will please Man Utd fans
There were two things that Ruben Amorim did after full-time against Ipswich Town that will please Manchester United fans.
Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Ipswich Town on Sunday in Ruben Amorim’s first game as manager.
The Reds took an early lead when Marcus Rashford scored just two minutes in, following a brilliant piece of play by Amad Diallo on the wing.
However, United could not capitalise on their strong start, and Ipswich equalised shortly before half-time.
A lack of creativity in the second half meant United were unable to secure all three points.
For Amorim, the match provided a valuable opportunity to assess his players, many of whom he had only worked with briefly in training.
Despite the dropped points, the new head coach would have pleased fans with two clear actions after the full-time whistle.
Firstly, he made sure that all of his players and staff went over to thank the travelling support at Portman Road.
The connection with the Sporting fanbase was key for Amorim during his time in Portugal and he clearly wants to continue that with the faithful United support.
It was something that Erik ten Hag made a priority during his time at the club as well, and one of the things that helped him the most before his departure.
Secondly, Amorim made an interesting claim shortly after his Sky Sports post-match interview was interrupted by Ed Sheeran.
He has clearly already had enough of the amount of media duties at the club and told the broadcasters that he has asked United’s head of communications to limit media requests to allow him to focus on training his squad.
Sky Sports have made the worst possible first impressions on the United boss. Their reporter Gary Cotterill hounded Amorim in Portugal for speaking Portuguese.
And now the unprofessional nature of his Ipswich interview makes it no surprise that he wants his duties limited.
Of course, fans will enjoy hearing this as they have seen what the English media do to United managers over the years.
We will obviously still get to hear from Amorim in press conferences and interviews but he will make sure that it is not a priority as he looks to transform the team.
