Mason Mount has already made a guarantee to Manchester United fans after returning to first-team training from injury this week.

Manchester United completed the surprise signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 for a reported £50 million.

Moving from one of the club’s Premier League rivals, Mount had a lot to do to convince United fans of his ability, especially after receiving the iconic no.7 shirt.

Unfortunately for the midfielder, he hasn’t really had the chance to prove himself in that time, with injuries defining his spell at Old Trafford so far.

Mount has been unavailable for Ruben Amorim’s side for three months after suffering a hamstring injury against Manchester City in December.

However, the 26-year-old has now returned to training at Carrington ahead of a crucial end to the season and he will be hoping to seize his opportunity.

Mount’s clear United fan promise

It has been confirmed that Mount will not be ready to face Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday evening but his return to the pitch is coming soon.

Amorim has made it no secret that he rates the ex-Chelsea player highly, previously labelling him as the “perfect” player for the new system he’s trying to implement.

But as previously mentioned, it is the fans who need convincing of Mount’s abilities and he has already said that he is determined to do that.

After his last injury, Mount took to social media to write an emotional statement on his setback, claiming that he “guarantees” he would not give up and continue to give everything.

“United fans, you may not know me too well yet, but one thing I can guarantee, I will never give up or lose faith,” the midfielder wrote back in December.

“I’ve said this before, but I will continue to give everything, get through this tough period and won’t stop until that’s achieved.”

Mount’s number one priority is clear

Mount can be an extremely useful player for United under the management of Amorim but his first priority to United fans doesn’t need to be showcasing quality.

Instead, he simply needs to prove his fitness and keep injury-free for a consistent period of time.

There are 10 remaining Premier League games this season, and potentially up to six more Europa League fixtures if United were to reach the final of the competition.

Mount’s number one priority has to be to stay fit for the rest of the season and put himself in the best possible position to contribute positively to the team next season.

If he is unable to do that, it feels inevitable that fans will lose complete faith in the player.
