Manchester United fans could be able to watch Sekou Kone for the first time next week as Manchester United’s academy face Huddersfield Town.

Sekou Kone made his debut for Manchester United’s Under-21s side on the weekend as he came off the bench against Sunderland’s youth team.

The Mali midfielder’s performance was described as ‘really bright’ by manager Travis Binnion but fans were unfortunately not able to tune in to the game.

United have cut back on their Academy coverage this season but this fixture was unable to be broadcast live due to Premier League rulings. The timing clashed with Arsenal’s game against Newcastle at 12:30 GMT on Saturday afternoon.

There has not been any highlights provided on the club’s website or app since the game either, leaving fans waiting to actually see Kone in action.

After signing the 18-year-old from his hometown club in Mali in the summer transfer window for around £1 million, there has been a buzz around Kone and what he could become at United.

Understandably, the teenager has been gifted the time to get used to his new surroundings in Manchester and undergo a pre-season which he missed out on in the summer.

However, he now looks set to start getting more game-time and reports suggest it may not be too long until he’s in the first-team picture.

After making his debut off the bench last time out, Kone looks set to be involved once again for the Under-21s in their next clash against Huddersfield Town.

The young Reds will be facing the League One outfit in their third EFL Trophy game and it will be played away from home at the John Smith’s Stadium.

United currently sit second in the four-team group after winning against Barnsley and drawing to Doncaster Rovers. They earned an extra point in the second game by winning a penalty shootout after full-time.

The game will take place on Tuesday, 12 November and kick-off comes at 19:45 GMT. The Under-21s squad will be fresh going into the clash as they do not have a game on the weekend beforehand.

It has been confirmed that while the game will not be available to watch live on MUTV, there will be live coverage of the event on Sky Sports+, while highlights are likely to come through the club afterwards.

Kone’s involvement is not guaranteed, but it is incredibly likely that the 18-year-old midfielder continues to get more minutes and it could be the first chance fans get to see him in action in United colours.
