How to watch Manchester United vs Brentford (Premier League): TV channel, live stream, kick-off time
Following a disappointing 2-0 loss to Newcastle United at St James’s Park at the weekend, Manchester United return to Old Trafford to host Brentford in what could be another tough fixture.
Manchester United‘s performance at the weekend against Newcastle was perhaps one of the worst seen under Erik ten Hag. Despite knowing it was going to be a tough fixture given Newcastle’s form this season and the infamous atmosphere at St James’s Park, United fans were left frustrated and disappointed by how their side played in such an important game.
United managed just 6 shots in total, with only one on target, compared to Newcastle who had 22 shots, 6 of which were on target.
On top of this, for the first time this season, Manchester United went in at half-time without a single shot on target, with all of the front three, particularly Wout Weghorst who had 10 touches all game, being largely anonymous. With this in mind, the scoreline really comes as no surprise – United were lucky not to concede more.
That being said, Erik ten Hag and his men must gather themselves and secure their first league win since 19 February. Beating Brentford is crucial for Manchester United in cementing a place in the top four and building momentum in a month, including quarter-finals in the Europa League and a semi-final in the FA Cup.
Thomas Frank’s side drew 3-3 in a thrilling match away to Brighton midweek, leaving them in a very impressive 7th in the Premier league table. The Bees will feel that this season they could secure a spot in European football and therefore, will be giving their all at Old Trafford to secure a valuable 3 points and, given the result in the reverse fixture at the beginning of the season, they will be confident they can achieve them.
