Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United will miss out on one of their summer targets, despite Joshua Zirkzee’s involvement.
Manchester United are shifting their focus to the final three signings of the summer as Rúben Amorim prepares for his first full season in charge at Old Trafford.
The club have already completed deals for Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon and Bryan Mbeumo. Cunha and Mbeumo are expected to form two-thirds of a new-look attacking trio, while 18-year-old Leon will operate as understudy to Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu at left wing-back.
With five weeks remaining in the transfer window, United are targeting an experienced centre-forward, a defensive midfielder and a goalkeeper to compete with André Onana.
However, they will likely need to sell key players, including Alejandro Garnacho, to raise the funds required for these final additions.
United to miss out on Ndoye tranfer
Bologna forward Dan Ndoye has been on United’s radar for an extensive period, with the club tracking the 24-year-old forward since the 2024 window.
According to Italian reports from earlier in the window, United were planning on reentering the race to sign Ndoye this summer, with his close friend Joshua Zirkzee involved in attempting to convince the “impressive” star.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that United are set to miss out on the Swiss international, with Nottingham Forest having struck a deal to sign the forward.
As per the Italian reporter, the Premier League side have agreed to sign Ndoye for an initial fee of around £34 million plus add-ons.
United pressing ahead with Šeško deal
Amid United’s need for further attacking reinforcements beyond Cunha and Mbeumo, United are seemingly pressing ahead with a deal to sign Benjamin Šeško.
According to German transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg, United have presented an offer to the 22-year-old Slovenian, and are not giving up on his transfer.
However, Newcastle are also full steam ahead for the striker, too. Plettenberg explained on X that the North Eastern club are ready to submit an offer, with RB Leipzig now demanding at least £70 million.
But, it has been reported elsewhere that Šeško and Leipzig have a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ that there are ‘special clubs’ who could secure the young striker for slightly less than the price-tag.
