Harry Maguire sends message to Matheus Cunha as fresh Manchester United injury details emerge

Harry Maguire has sent a message to Manchester United teammate Matheus Cunha after his injury against Burnley last weekend.

Manchester United bounced back from a tough start to the season with a 3-2 win over Burnley at the weekend, giving them momentum heading into the international break.

However, the victory was overshadowed by an injury to Matheus Cunha, who appeared to pull his hamstring while bursting forward in attack and was forced to leave the pitch.

The Brazilian forward has been one of United’s standout performers so far this season, so his setback sparked concern among supporters at Old Trafford.

It has since been confirmed that he will miss Brazil’s upcoming fixtures during the international break, with fans now anxiously waiting to learn how long he could be sidelined.

Maguire sends message to Cunha as fresh injury details emerge

While it is still uncertain whether Cunha will be fit for United when they return to action, he has sent a message on social media to supporters.

“What an incredible environment, it’s great to be here,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’ll be back soon, always with joy and gratitude. Thanks for all the messages.”

Harry Maguire responded with two love-heart emojis while the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes liked the post.

United’s next game comes against rivals Manchester City on Sunday, 14 September and Cunha would certainly love to be involved in that match.

Maguire going to have to wait for opportunity

In the summer, it felt like Maguire might be getting a lot of football heading into the season but it was Matthijs de Ligt who started the opening game against Arsenal.

The Dutchman has started all three of United’s Premier League fixtures and even though the results have not been great, he has performed well.

De Ligt has been nominated for the club’s Player of the Month award for August alongside Mbeumo and Leny Yoro.

For Maguire, he will likely have to bide his time and wait for an opportunity in the team due to the limited amount of games being played at Old Trafford.

He did start in the Carabao Cup defeat against Grimsby Town last week and scored United’s late equaliser before their penalty shootout loss.
