Gary Neville says one Manchester United star ‘stunned’ Pep Guardiola and left Michael Carrick in ‘heaven’

One Manchester United star has left Pep Guardiola absolutely speechless as Gary Neville highlighted in Michael Carrick’s giant 2-0 Manchester derby victory

Manchester United shocked Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in a thrilling 2-0 victory at Old Trafford as United deservingly secured all three points.

Michael Carrick’s men had all the momentum from the off creating chance after chance, most notably Harry Maguire striking the crossbar with a header in the early stages.

Amad and Bruno Fernandes found the back of the net but were denied by the offside flag before the half-time whistle. The second half saw a brilliant display from Gianluigi Donnarumma as he prevented the chances from Casemiro and Bryan Mbeumo.

However, it was the Cameroonian who opened the scoring, beating Donnarumma in an electric United counterattack with 65 minutes gone.

Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu doubled United’s lead and secured the win for Carrick as he pounced onto a brilliant cross from substitute Matheus Cunha.

Gary Neville spots Guardiola’s reaction to Dorgu

Former United captain, now turned pundit, Gary Neville was quick to spot reactions after Dorgu scored the second of the afternoon, sending Old Trafford into wild celebrations and leaving the City men stunned.

Neville stated, “Man City cannot believe it. Massive figures, Donnarumma, Rodri, Haaland shaking their head and, biggest of all, Pep Guardiola – stunned. They have been run ragged.

“Man United have punched and punched on the attack constantly. Really simple principles here. Michael Carrick is in heaven.”

Guardiola was seen baffled as his disadvantage grew, leaving their chances of catching up to Arsenal in the Premier League much slimmer, and it was all due to the hard work and combination of Cunha and Dorgu showing the heart City couldn’t.

Carrick showing a breath of fresh air

Carrick went brave for his first match in charge after he was appointed to take over from Ruben Amorim, who was sacked following a heated press conference calling out Jason Wilcox.

The former Middlesbrough manager opted for a defensive four and handed a first Premier League start this season for Kobbie Mainoo, who capitalised on the opportunity and impressed throughout.

Old Trafford also saw captain Fernandes operating higher up the pitch ,often being the catalyst for United’s devastating attacks.
