Full Manchester United matchday squad to face Barcelona (Europa League)
Lisandro Martinez returns to Europa League action as Erik ten Hag selects his squad for the Europa League clash against Barcelona.
This fixture is the second part of a two-legged tie as Manchester United do battle with Barcelona to progress to the final 16 of the Europa League.
Marcus Rashford was the hero of the first leg for Erik ten Hag‘s men, scoring one and creating a second as Manchester United drew 2-2 at Camp Nou with the Catalan club.
Speaking ahead of the week in which his squad will play Barcelona at Old Trafford before kicking off in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United, Erik ten Hag said: “We are now in a position with big games coming up. We are looking forward, really excited because we want to match with the best.
“We are really enjoying it, we are really looking forward and enjoy it. We have to give our best.”
He was also asked what he thinks Xavi has prepared for the fixture and replied saying: “I don’t know what Xavi is thinking. Obviously, Gavi and Pedri are big players but their squad has so much depth. Tomorrow it will be a very good team from Barcelona so we have to play our best.”
“We have to keep in the same mindset, every day we want to give a better version of ourselves,” concluded Ten Hag, speaking yesterday. “Tomorrow we have to give the best performance of the season, we believe in it.”
Lisandro Martinez and Marcel Sabitzer have both returned to the matchday squad in the Europa League, having been suspended for the leg at Camp Nou due to yellow card accumulation.
Raphael Varane was rested against Leicester City during United’s triumphant 3-0 victory over the Foxes and has arrived at Old Trafford ahead of an expected return to the XI as Martinez’s partner for the fixture to replace Victor Lindelof.
Erik ten Hag is boosted by the return of Antony, however, Anthony Martial was not spotted as the side arrived at Old Trafford.
