Fabrizio Romano has shut down rumours linking Manchester United with a surprise summer move as he explains what Rúben Amorim wants in his next set of targets.
Manchester United may still be in the mix for yet another attacking signing next summer as Rúben Amorim continues to improve his front line.
The club brought in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Šeško as a new-look front three, committing over £200 million to the three deals, while getting rid of five forwards in the process.
Alejandro Garnacho was sold to Chelsea for £40 million, Antony to Real Betis for £21.5 million, while Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Højlund, and Jadon Sancho all left on loan.
With United hoping to return to European competition next season, the club are planning ahead by targeting fresh forward talent in the coming summer transfer window.
United not considering Adeyemi transfer
Earlier this month, reports emerged claiming that United had spoken to Jorge Mendes, representative of Karim Adeyemi, about a possible transfer for the 23-year-old star.
According to various reports, the ‘versatile‘ German international is unhappy at Borussia Dortmund and is yet to commit to a new deal.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shut down such talk, explaining that, as far as he was aware, United have not held any form of meeting or approach for Adeyemi.
“From my information, at this moment Manchester United are not negotiating for Karim Adeyemi,” he said on his YouTube channel.
“Manchester United have not made any approach to the player or to the club. So, right now, there is nothing concrete or serious happening.”
United looking for skilful attacking power
As mentioned above, United are still looking to sign a new attacking player in the summer window, with Romano further stating that the club are seeking “someone electric, skilful, talented, and fast” to add to their front line.
“Manchester United are looking at that type of profile, a player who can play as a winger or as a No. 10 behind the striker, someone electric, skilful, talented, and fast,” Romano continued.
“Karim Adeyemi is very fast, and he fits that description. Manchester United are following several players with those kinds of qualities, and Adeyemi is one of the best in Europe in that category.
“But if you ask me today whether Manchester United are negotiating with Adeyemi’s agents or negotiating with Borussia Dortmund for a January move, from what I am told, at this stage of the year, Manchester United have not started any concrete negotiation or concrete discussion for Karim Adeyemi.”
It’s also expected that United will bring in two new midfielders amid a lack of current options and Casemiro’s expiring contract, while another left wing-back and centre-back are also reportedly on the agenda at Old Trafford.
