Manchester United scored two second-half goals at Old Trafford against Barcelona to progress to the next round of the Europa League.

After a disappointing first-half performance that left The Reds 1-0 down, Fred sparked the Theatre of Dreams into life with a goal early in the second half.

Antony’s strike soon after would’ve blown the roof off of the stadium if it had one. It was a brilliant finish and was eventually the difference between the two teams.

Fred was excellent on the night and when speaking to BT Sport, he detailed what Erik ten Hag told the team in the dressing room at half-time.

“[He said] that first half, we don’t play like how we should play,” the Brazilian explained. “But in the second half, we were much better.

“We started very well, scored early, we had a good talk at half-time with the coach and we change our mind(set) at half-time and in the second half we played very well.”

Bruno Fernandes, who assisted his midfield partner for the equaliser, was full of praise for the Old Trafford faithful, who helped drag United over the line.

“They’ve been with us in the toughest moments,” added Bruno when speaking about those at Old Trafford. “They are always behind us but this is something different.

“Old Trafford was bouncing.”

Man United remain the only club in Europe’s top five leagues to continue competing in four different competitions.

When asked who he would like to face up against in the next round of the Europa League, Ten Hag showed that he is fully focused on United’s next task at hand.

“It doesn’t matter to me,” he replied. “I focus on Newcastle United. If you are well prepared, we can do it.”

United travel to Wembley next to face The Magpies in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
