Four Manchester United wonderkids interested in January loans, “high-potential” star could join Lausanne Sport

Four youngsters within the Manchester United academy are reportedly interested in heading out on loan in the January window, with Lausanne Sport a potential destination for one of them.

Manchester United’s summer transfer window saw a significant reshaping of the squad, with several established names moved on. Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Højlund were all either sold or sent out on loan, with permanent departures planned for 2026.

Alongside those changes, Ruben Amorim’s side made smart use of the loan market to support the development of their Academy prospects, allowing a number of United’s most promising young players to gain valuable experience across the English football pyramid.

Two loanees in particular have stood out. Harry Amass has impressed at left-back during his spell with Sheffield Wednesday, while goalkeeper Radek Vitek has caught the eye with a series of strong performances for Bristol City.

With the January window approaching, United will already be discussing which talents need to be sent out on loan to further their development and four players are reportedly keen on making temporary departures.

Four United wonderkids interested in January loans

Amorim has been criticised for not using the academy enough in first-team fixtures this season but there are also some players who need to develop further before playing at Old Trafford.

According to MUFC Academy on X, Chido Obi, Gabriele Biancheri, Jayce Fitzgerald and Bendito Mantato are all interested in finding loan moves in January.

All four players have been regulars with the Under-21s this season while Obi made several appearances for the first-team last season but Amorim has suggested that those opportunities came too early for the ex-Arsenal talent.

The aforementioned report also stated that all four of the players are attracting loan interest ahead of the mid-season window. United will undoubtably be thinking carefully about which moves make sense for each player.

Mantato had impressed Amorim behind-the-scenes last season and the report adds that he is viewed as a ‘high-potential talent’ within the youth set-up but feel that first-team exposure in the second half of the season would aid his development.

The left-footed winger, who can also play as a full-back, has several clubs tracking him, with INEOS-owned Lausanne Sport among the possible suitors.

Lausanne Sport loaned Enzo Kana-Biyik from the Reds in the summer and were also linked with Sekou Kone before it was decided that he would stay at United. For the Reds, they know that they can guarantee regular game-time for their youngsters at the Swiss club.

Lacey not heading out on loan

One player who doesn’t seem like he will be heading out on loan is Shea Lacey, and he appears to be the closest talent to making a debut in the first-team at United.

Lacey is supremely talented and could push for minutes during AFCON, with Amad and Bryan Mbeumo unavailable while they compete in the tournament.

Fans were disappointed that the 18-year-old did not play at Wolves when United were 4-1 ahead, but Amorim has praised Lacey and he could easily get a chance in the team in the coming weeks.

Others will be looking to do their development on loan, and United will hope that they can find suitable destinations for some very talented players.
