Forgotten Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been told he should consider signing for Manchester United by West Ham’s Michail Antonio.

Manchester United have had a crisis in the midfield department in the last six months, with injuries left, right, and centre, causing Erik ten Hag to constantly chop and change his starting XI.

A big miss in midfield has been Casemiro, who was pivotal to United’s success last campaign and has been unavailable for the club’s last 17 fixtures with a hamstring injury.

Although Casemiro has returned to training, United still need a holding midfielder with Premier League experience, and current Manchester City player Kalvin Phillips might fit the bill.

West Ham striker Michail Antonio, speaking about Phillip’s future, stated that he believes although Juventus may be the most financially rewarding choice, the England international should also consider United as a priority option should they pursue a deal.

“For me, I’m going to Juventus, after Juventus, it would be Man United, and then it would be the Magpies (Newcastle),” Antonio said on the Footballer’s Football podcast.

“That’s from me, from a personal standpoint, I always wanted to play in Italy, Inter Milan always had a place in my heart, and the city, I love it, I love Milan.”

Phillips has played just 31 times for Manchester City since signing for the club in 2022 but appeared 234 for Leeds United prior to his move, impressing in the Premier League on many occasions.
