Manchester United icon Owen Hargreaves has told Manchester United fans to “forget” about controlling games this season.

The Reds were once again uninspiring as they drew 1-1 against Burnley, with Antony’s goal being cancelled out by a late Zeki Amdouni penalty.

At half-time, the teams were level at 0-0 but Burnley had created the better chances of the two teams. André Onana was forced into making two top-class saves.

Vincent Komany’s side also boasted 51 per cent of the possession at the Theatre of Dreams in the first 45 minutes. In the second half, the possession was split 54/46 in Burnley’s favour. However, the lack of control is not a rarity from Erik ten Hag’s side.

“Forget about it, there’s no control for Manchester United this season at Old Trafford,” stated Hargreaves on Premier League Productions when asked about the lack of control from Ten Hag’s side.

“They (Burnley) have more possession than Man United at Old Trafford, it’s crazy, you’d never know Burnley were fighting for their life.”

United were unable to score in that first period. Their best chance came from Antony, who missed the target from close-range after making a good run.

“I mean, they’ve had some [chances],” added Hargreaves. “And you expect that at Old Trafford; Antony has to get that on target; when he’s wide, I don’t think he can beat people.”

Ten Hag has previously denied that his team are giving up too many chances but it was on display once again against a team likely to be relegated.

“You rarely watch Man United now and expect them to be solid, normally you have a couple of bad weeks,” added Liverpool icon Danny Murphy.

“He’s [Ten Hag] not in the world of reality of 99 per cent of people that watch Man United; he’s under pressure and feeling it.”
