Fluminense star André responds to Man United links & names ‘great leader’ at Old Trafford
Fluminese star André has responded to recent links to Manchester United and praised a ‘great leader’ within the Old Trafford camp.
André, 22, has made 53 appearances for the Brazilian club over the last 10 months, helping them to a cup-double in their season.
There are multiple clubs interested in signing the talented midfielder and United are rumoured to be one of those, as well as Premier League club Fulham.
There were reportedly scouts from various clubs in attendance for the Copa Libertadores final against Argentine rivals Boca Juniors earlier this month.
It has also been stated that United executives have made their interest known to Fluminense over a possible move for the midfielder, who could be available for a price between £26-35 million.
When asked about these reports linking him to an Old Trafford transfer, André has admitted that he was unaware of the interest and that he’s focused on his objectives with Fluminese.
“I didn’t know about (the Manchester United interest),” he told ESPN. “And I also don’t think anything came of it.
“We’re in November, there’s the final stretch of the Brazilian Championship, there’s the World Cup, but I’m very happy.”
The young midfielder went onto speak about United’s Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who he has worked with during international duty, and stated that he’s happy to be attracting the likes of United.
“Casemiro is a guy who has had a huge career, I try to talk to him a lot when I’m with the national team. He’s a person who gives me a lot of advice, he’s a great leader and all I can do is continue playing well and I’m happy with all this interest and comments.”
