Ruben Amorim is considering several changes to his Manchester United lineup vs Newcastle, which includes the potential dropping of André Onana.
Manchester United are yet to win since returning to action from the latest international break and have a tough away game against Newcastle up next.
However, the Reds may feel hard done by in their recent fixtures. Against Nottingham Forest and Manchester City, a lack of killer instinct ruined two good performances.
Then it was André Onana at the back who cost the team a lead heading into the second-leg of their Europa League tie against Lyon with mistakes for both goals in a 2-2 draw.
Despite the improvements in general play that Amorim will be seeing, he has to make changes for multiple reasons against Newcastle on the weekend.
United need to have some level of rotation ahead of their return leg against the French outfit next week while some players also just deserve to be dropped.
Amorim could drop three United stars including Onana
It has been reported by MailSport that Amorim is seriously considering dropping Onana for the Newcastle clash after his difficulties in Europe.
Altay Bayındır would be the man to replace the 29-year-old. He has recently returned from injury and has already played twice in the Europa League under Amorim.
That report also mentioned that the United boss is also pondering other changes to the team ahead of the Premier League clash.
Looking at the side that started in Lyon, it would be no surprise to see Rasmus Højlund and Alejandro Garnacho both dropped for the game at St James’ Park.
Joshua Zirkzee is the best option for Amorim upfront even though he is not perfect and Garnacho is not offering anywhere near enough. Mason Mount or Kobbie Mainoo could take his place after positive cameos.
Amorim could rest two other United stars
Amorim will not only be making changes due to the performance levels of certain players but to also protect some from being overplayed ahead of the Lyon clash.
Leny Yoro scored his first goal for the club on Thursday night and produced his best performance since arriving in the summer.
However, there will also likely be a consideration to resting him against Newcastle. He played 90 minutes against Lyon and also started both Premier League games beforehand.

The 19-year-old had only returned from injury over the international break and Amorim could look to give him a break ahead of the second-leg clash, where he is expected to start.
Casemiro could have a similar experience as the Brazilian is almost a must-start for United in the European games but has also started all three games since the return from the international break and should be wrapped up in cotton wool for the game next week.
