According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Rúben Amorim’s “dream” Manchester United signing is open to transfer talks ahead of a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Manchester United are set to prioritise attacking reinforcements this summer as Rúben Amorim’s side continue to struggle in front of goal.
United’s lack of firepower has been a persistent issue this season, with the team frequently failing to score more than once per match. Their inconsistent form at Old Trafford has only heightened concerns.
In January, the club loaned out several first-team forwards, including Antony to Real Betis, Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa, and Ethan Wheatley to Walsall for the remainder of the season.
Despite these departures, United did not bolster their attacking options in January. Their only additions were defensive reinforcements—left-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce and centre-back Ayden Heaven from Arsenal—though Amorim has suggested at the time that Dorgu could also be deployed in a more advanced role.
Amorim’s “dream” transfer revealed
Amorim, as well as most of the United fan base, is said to want to sign a new first-team striker this summer as he looks to fix the goal scoring problems the club are suffering from.
The club have been linked with many centre-forwards across the last few months, but according to GiveMeSport, Amorim’s “dream” striker signing this summer is Victor Osimhen, currently on loan a Galatasaray from Napoli.
Although it’s well known that the striker has a £62 million release clause in his contract that becomes active this summer, the report explains that United still see Osimhen’s possible move as “increasingly difficult.”
This is partly down to the fact that United’s funds this summer look limited unless the club can raise significant capital through player sales, and should the club fail to win the Europa League this campaign, they will not be playing European football next season.
Romano: Osimhen still open to United talks
However, the ever-reliable transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed that despite the precarious status of United’s Champions League chances, the 26-year-old would still be open to conversations with United.
According to Romano, Osimhen, who is set to leave Napoli this summer after falling out with the club’s board, is open to hearing from United as well as other clubs.
However, from United’s perspective, the Italian journalist explained that United are not committing to any conversations with the Nigerian international, as they are still waiting to discover what their summer budget is likely to be.
It’s possible that United could raise over £100 million this summer pending the transfers of high-value players such as Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Antony.
There is also the chance that United will be able to profit from a potential sale of Marseille’s Mason Greenwood, with the club retaining a 50% sell-on clause in his contract and Paris St. Germain reportedly interested in the player.
