Fabrizio Romano has revealed the two Serie A clubs that have opened direct contact with Manchester United surrounding the potential signing of Rasmus Højlund this summer.
Manchester United have faced struggles this season under Rúben Amorim, with one of the main issues being their inability to score goals.
The team has found it challenging to turn chances into goals, with several players enduring long goal-scoring droughts.
Rasmus Højlund went 22 games without scoring before finally finding the back of the net with a brilliant goal against Leicester City just before the international break. He then added another goal for Denmark in their match against Portugal.
There are still questions about the 22-year-old striker, but Amorim has continued to place his trust in him, even during his tough spells.
Højlund leaving United is “one to watch”
Amid Højlund’s poor form this season, there have been intensifying rumours surrounding whether the Danish international may depart Old Trafford this summer amid United’s interest in Ipswich Town centre-forward Liam Delap.
There have been many rumours regarding whether United would consider selling the striker, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Serie A clubs have called United this month about Højlund’s availability this summer.
“Rasmus Højlund’s situation at Manchester United could be open, could be one to watch in the summer,” Romano explained on his YouTube channel.
“I can tell you that this month, so in the first ten days of April, Italian clubs started calling to understand the situation of Rasmus Højlund because they have a feeling that could be an opportunity to bring the player back to Italy.”
He continued: “It’s not something guaranteed, because May United have still not communicated any decision to the player or his agents, but it’s a possibility, because Italian clubs started calling and they had some feedback on the possibility of Rasmus Højlund leaving Manchester United.”
Romano reveals two clubs who have called United
Speaking further, Romano revealed the two Italian clubs have called United this month are Juventus and Napoli.
“Juventus appreciate the player,” the Italian journalist explained. “The director, Cristiano Giuntoli likes Rasmus Højlund since he was at Atalanta.
“Napoli also want to bring an important striker in the summer, Napoli will go for an important striker in the summer, and Napoli also have general interest in Rasmus Hoyland, so these are two clubs monitoring the situation.”
Romano also noted that there may also be interest from Inter Milan later down the line, as they are also a club who are known to want to sign a new striker this summer.
With United’s want for new firepower this summer, one thing is for sure is that Højlund’s situation could become one to watch once the summer window opens.
