Fabrizio Romano reveals the truth behind Luis Campos to Manchester United links after ‘advanced talks’ claim

Fabrizio Romano has revealed the truth behind claims that Paris Saint-Germain’s transfer chief Luis Campos is in advanced talks with Manchester United.

The summer transfer window is not even open yet but Manchester United are still being linked to many different players and now the same is happening for those higher-up.

Currently, the Reds have the likes of Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada running the show at Old Trafford but it is well-known that Dan Ashworth was dismissed as sporting director at the end of last year.

Recent reports from France have claimed that the Reds are looking to replace Ashworth with PSG’s transfer expert Luis Campos.

It was stated that Campos is in ‘advanced talks’ with those at Old Trafford and Fabrizio Romano has now clarified the situation in his latest YouTube video.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Luis Campos to United truth

Romano has revealed that United are not in any discussions with Campos despite those recent rumours.

“Luis Campos is more than a director, he is an excellent director… we have had links with Manchester United but I’m told that in this moment Luis Campos is not negotiating with Manchester United, that’s my information,” the Italian journalist said.

Campos rose to prominence as Monaco’s sporting director, playing a key role in signing talents like Anthony Martial, Bernardo Silva, and Thomas Lemar.

After a stint at Lille, he joined PSG in 2022, where he has led a shift from chasing superstars to building a cohesive, balanced team now favoured to win the Champions League.

United fans were briefly excited about the prospect of Campos being added to the existing transfer team at Old Trafford, although it seems like those hopes have fallen apart rather quickly.

Will United get another sporting director?

It remains to be seen whether United are looking externally to replace Ashworth, who left the club in December, or whether the changes made within the club are viewed as enough.

Christopher Vivell has joined permanently as the director of recruitment while Wilcox has taken on more responsibilities since the departure of Ashworth.

You cannot really judge this team yet as they have not had enough time together. For example, Vivell was only on an interim contract last summer while other members of the hierarchy were not yet in place.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made major changes in these roles and will be hoping that it starts to pay off, with the upcoming summer transfer window being the first major test.
