Fabrizio Romano has revealed the secret question Manchester United asked RB Leipzig before launching talks to sign Benjamin Sesko.
Manchester United are looking to add another striker to Ruben Amorim’s squad this summer and are targeting Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig.
The Reds have added Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo to their squad, and both are players who guarantee goals, as shown by their Premier League records.
However, they are expected to play as the two no.10s in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, which leaves space for another striker.
Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee have struggled to find the back of the net since their Old Trafford arrivals and Sesko appears to be the preferred target.
Fabrizio Romano reveals secret question United asked RB Leipzig about Sesko
Sesko, 22, enjoyed a standout campaign last season, scoring 21 goals and registering six assists, cementing his status as one of Europe’s most exciting young forwards.
United’s renewed interest comes as no surprise, especially following the appointment of Christopher Vivell, formerly of the Red Bull setup, to a key recruitment role at Old Trafford.
Various reports have now claimed that Sesko is the priority target at United and that formal talks have began with RB Leipzig.
Before these reports emerged, Fabrizio Romano revealed that United had direct contact with the German side in recent hours to ask an important question.
He explained that United wanted to speak to them about the ‘private agreement’ Sesko has with them about his price tag. It is claimed there is a gentleman’s agreement in place which allows him to leave for slightly cheaper if he considers the club as ‘special’.
Now, TalkSport are reporting that United are hopeful that Leipzig drop the price tag to around £60 million for the 22-year-old striker.
Sesko’s situation different to Højlund
There are plenty of concerns in the United fanbase that Sesko will go through similar difficulties to Højlund after the Danish striker struggles at the club.
But there is a couple of key differences between the two. Sesko is slightly older and more experienced that Højlund was when he was signed from Atalanta.

Also, right now there would be less pressure on a young striker to deliver immediately, partly due to the arrivals of Mbeumo and Cunha.
It is certainly a different situation and it will be interesting to see how Sesko performs if a deal gets over the line.
