Manchester United have now had two bids rejected from Italian club Lecce as the January transfer window comes closer to the end.

Manchester United are keen to make signings this month to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s first-team squad.

The wingback position has emerged as a priority, with Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui facing challenges adapting to the role.

Patrick Dorgu is United’s top target, but the club has already seen two bids for the 20-year-old turned down, with the latest being at £25 million.

It has been claimed that the Italian side want at least £34 million for the player who is unaffected behind-the-scenes through this transfer chase.

Fabrizio Romano reveals United’s plan after Dorgu rejected bid

The latest information from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is that United are not pulling out of the race for Dorgu despite these rejected bids.

He revealed that while Lecce want £34 million for the Danish international, add-ons can be included to a proposal from the Reds to make a deal happen.

That could mean that United offer £25 million plus £9 million in add-ons, although it has not been explained whether there were add-ons included in those initial offers.

With negotiations ongoing between the two clubs, it seems like this deal that may have a conclusion soon.

Dorgu immediately improves United’s team

Dorgu would immediately slot into Amorim’s best team at United, coming into the space at left wingback.

While the 20-year-old still has a lot of work to improve his overall game, he offers an attacking threat that will add a lot to United’s team.

So often under Amorim the team have moved the ball out to a wingback who cannot put fear into the opposition’s fullback’s eyes.

Diogo Dalot will turn and pass inside and Noussair Mazraoui usually does the same. Having the option of a player who will run at the defender with quality and can help create danger in the final third is extremely useful.
