Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a second European giant is now within the mix for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford in 2025.

Marcus Rashford is expected to leave Manchester United in 2025 after a revealing interview in which the 27-year-old outlined his desire to embrace a new challenge.

Once the centrepiece of United’s attack, Rashford hit his peak with an outstanding 30-goal season under Erik ten Hag in 2022/23. However, his form has since declined, and he has fallen down the pecking order under Rúben Amorim, with Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes now preferred in the attacking lineup.

Rashford has not featured in United’s last seven matches and has missed some of these through bouts of illness, but his reduced role within the squad is evident.

Having spent nearly 20 years at the club, his journey began with a dream debut as an 18-year-old, scoring twice against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League before adding another brace against Arsenal in his Premier League debut.

Reports indicate that United are considering loaning Rashford out in January, with a permanent move anticipated in the summer. His departure seems inevitable, bringing an end to his storied time at Old Trafford as he looks ahead to a new chapter in his career.

Romano confirms Rashford offer to Barcelona

Rashford has been most prominently linked with Serie A side AC Milan, with his brother and representative Dwayne Maynard having flown to Italy for talks with the club in recent weeks.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that, aside from Milan, Rashford has now been offered to La Liga Barcelona, with the Catalan club being described as Rashford’s favoured destination.

“The player was offered to Barcelona,” Romano told GiveMeSport about the player.

“So keep an eye also on what Barcelona decide to do, because, in this moment, he probably is not a priority for Barca but he’s a player appreciated internally at Barcelona.

“The player would love a move to Spain. So at the moment, it is not a guaranteed move or an advanced move, but Barca have been offered this possibility. They also had a meeting with the agents of Rashford, so I think this could be one to watch in the final days of the window.”

Amorim keen to shun talk of Rashford’s exit

Although he has not been involved in the side’s last several fixtures, this has not stopped journalists from asking Amorim continual questions in his press conferences.

On Wednesday afternoon, ahead of Thursday evening’s Premier League clash against Southampton, the 39-year-old was once again asked about Rashford’s situation.

He was asked how much he would like to see the Rashford situation resolved. Amorim completely shut down the question, offering no answer and explaining he is only focused on his team’s performance.

“I just want to win tomorrow,” he defiantly said. “My focus is to win tomorrow. I will choose the players who I think are the best to win tomorrow, so I’m just focused on that.”
