Fabrizio Romano makes an exciting comment about Manchester United’s summer transfer plans following the conclusion of the 2025 winter window.

Manchester United’s 2025 winter transfer window has drawn a lot of criticism from fans after the club failed to improve much-needed areas of Rúben Amorim’s squad.

United were able to bring in first-team additions Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven to reinforce the team’s defensive line, but the lack of attacking reinforcements has led to uproar among the fanbase.

United saw three first-team attackers leave the club as Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Ethan Wheatley all departed on loan, while a host of Academy talent also left on temporary deals in search of game time.

The one other bright spark is the club signing talented young left-back Diego Leon, who will join Old Trafford on 1 July once he finishes the season with his club Cerro Porteño in Paraguay.

Romano’s exciting transfer update

Despite the lack of a new forward, reports came out toward the end of deadline day that the club were refusing to panic-buy any new players and that the winter window was a time to prepare for the summer.

United were able to offload a significant amount of wages from their books with the loan departures of Antony and Rashford and it’s expected that the money saved will contribute to spending in the summer.

Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has now made an exciting comment surrounding United’s potential summer activity, stating that the club will make a whole host of changes to Amorim’s team.

“For Man United, we said that the only big signing is Patrick Dorgu. Ayden Heaven and Diego Leon joined for the future,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“It’s just the beginning because then, in the summer, Man United will change many things. For now, Patrick Dorgu is the face of this transfer market for United.”

What areas do United need to address?

The obvious area that United must recruit in this coming summer is the striker area. United need a new first-team centre-forward who will be able to guarantee goals, with Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee so far failing to provide.

They will also need to make fresh midfield reinforcements, with both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen expected to leave.

Rashford and Antony are both expected to depart in the summer permanently, so the club may need to bring in a new creative outlet while there are still holes in the defence.

Victor Lindelöf and Jonny Evans are both expected to depart the club when their contracts expire in June, meaning the club may have to make a further centre-back signing despite bringing in Heaven last month.
