Fabrizio Romano issues worrying Rasmus Højlund transfer update after what Man Utd are now “planning” this summer

Fabrizio Romano has issued a worrying update on one Manchester United player’s transfer future, admitting that the star is “one to watch” this summer.
Manchester United are expected to make attacking reinforcements a top priority this summer as Rúben Amorim’s side continue to struggle for consistency in front of goal.
Apart from Bruno Fernandes, United’s forward line has offered little in terms of end product, with the front three regularly failing to get on the scoresheet. Their shaky form at Old Trafford has only added to the growing concern.
During the last transfer window, the club loaned out several attacking players — Antony to Real Betis, Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa, and Ethan Wheatley to Walsall for the rest of the season.
Despite the exits, United did not bring in any attacking replacements, leaving supporters frustrated. The only January additions were left wing-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce and 18-year-old centre-back Ayden Heaven from Arsenal.
Romano issues worrying Højlund update
As always when the summer window approaches, many questions start forming around what United plan of action will be for the summer transfer window and their first major overhaul under Amorim.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on what the club are “planning,” further explaining that this may have a significant impact on the future of Rasmus Højlund.
“Manchester United are really planning to bring in an important striker in the summer transfer window, so I’m told that clubs are starting to reach out with Manchester United [and] people close to Rasmus Højlund to understand his availability for the summer [and] how much it could cost,” Romano explained.
Further, The Italian transfer expert revealed that United may well choose to move the 22-year-old striker on this summer if it’s the best decision for all parties.
“So there is interest in Rasmus Højlund and there could be movement if Man United, as we expect, will bring in an important striker in the summer.
“Let’s see what happens with Højlund, because there are clubs are really interested, and in terms of money, in case they receive a good proposal for Man United could see an opportunity.
“So Højlund is going to be one to watch in the summer transfer window, with interest from several countries including Italy, where he did very well as an Atlanta player before joining Manchester United.”
Højlund leaving could be a worry for United
Even though United are planning on bringing in an “important” striker this summer, Højlund’s departure could spell a worry for those at Old Trafford.
With Joshua Zirkzee performing better as a No. 10 in recent months, Højlund is the club’s only first-team striker, with Chido Obi still in the infancy of his senior career.
United do not have an unlimited budget this summer, and selling Højlund would mean United may have to dedicate funds to signing two new strikers instead of one.
With the club also looking for a right-sided No. 10, a new left wing-back, a new defensive midfielder, and likely a new centre-back and goalkeeper, too, Højlund departing Old Trafford would restrict the budget even further.
